Snow days
So here I am bitching about the snow this week and then I come across these pictures posted on my favorite message board, Shovelhead.us. These are photos from Speed Weekend in Funasdalen Sweden 2009. The Swedes don't give a shit, they're out there setting high speed records on frozen lakes. Click on any of the pictures above to go to the source of the pictures.

Trick Photography
Using your camera as a phone used to be a pretty bad idea if you wanted nice looking pictures. Now with all the filters, apps and what have you, it's pretty easy to get interesting shots. It's not fair. However, if you see a couple images with the EXACT same set of scratches or the same exact light leaks, the images lose some of their impact because you can recognize what filter was applied. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

pushead
I grew up aping this guys style. I paid a lot of attention to his artwork. I eventually gave up because I figured I was basically just copying someone else. I also lost interest when his work became synonymous with Metallica. Now I find myself enjoying the work of John Baizley. Looks like he took a few styling cues from Pushead himself.

Some Great Bikes
I tell ya, I can't plug shovelhead.us enough. The members are true blue gearheads and have the bikes to prove it. Here is a sample of one of the members photobucket accounts.

Sweet Shovelhead
I love this bike. Someone who goes by the handle BigDawgJrod owns it. I found this on the illustrious shovelhead.us site under a "swingarm bobber" picture thread. Click on that link to see a ton of great bikes. Or go to The BADAC page to not only see more of the bike but see some shots of the work that went into it. Hopefully, he won't mind that I'm linking to his page. This bike needs to be seen. It's already being featured in The Horse, but I figured, I'd post some here as well.
Why do I love it? It's got a great style to it. It doesn't look like any of the other customs out there that I've seen. It has some familiar cues but a fresh take on them in my opinion. I love the white rims, the tanks, the blue grips the seat. Really, what's not to like?

Too Cold
My bike runs better in the cold but 21 degrees is ridiculous. I just posted this pic because when it's too cold to ride it and I don't have time to wrench on it, I can at least enjoy looking at it. I keep telling myself that I'm going to build a rigid someday (not with this bike. I like this bike exactly as it is.) but there really is something awesome about the 4-speed swing arm frames lowered a couple inches.
