Guptill's Cruise Night August 2011

My wife and I double dated with my parents to go to the monthly cruise night at Guptill's Roller Rink. This is one of my favorite parts of summer. Tons of old cars. Some cool bikes. Oldies tunes. And it's all free. They just ask that you bring a canned good for the local food pantry.

Sarah and I rolled in on the shovel.

This rat rod looked like a rolling nightmare. In a good way.

This rat has a blue ribbon.

This is for my friend Steve who has been a fan of these 2002's long before they were cool.

God was there representing and sending some beams through the clouds. That's my wife in the picture. The pretty girl to the right (not the dude in the black tank).

Sarah snapped a better shot of the sky with her phone.

America's Truck

Someone has parked some folk art on my street. Looks like a fun ride. Sweet hood ornament! I salute this machine every time I pass it.

Broken Ribs and Busted Pride

I mentioned before how my father's beloved Roadrunner was totaled on a rainy day when another driver hydroplaned and railed into him. He was busted up pretty good but managed to get out of the car and scream like hell at the other guy. He went to the hospital for some broken ribs.

When these pictures were taken, a passer by said something to the affect of "Wow! Did the guy driving that survive!?" To which my Dad replied, "You're looking at him!"

The impact forced the Roadrunner into the curb, breaking its rear wheel off.

And above is "the other guy's" car. After my father screamed and shouted, the man replied, "Well, if I can help you at all, I'm a priest." My father being a good Catholic was shocked to realize that he had just unwittingly cursed out a priest.

More Old Pics

I know the above pic is a repeat but it is one of my all time favorite photos of my Dad's friends and his Roadrunner.

Dad at work.

That's Mom leaning on my father's second Roadrunner. The first (and fastest) one was totaled when another car hydroplaned on a rainy day and t-boned him cracking his ribs and his pride. He planned to build this one up like the previous one but lost patience with it and bought a Charger. I will be searching the photo albums and old shoeboxes on my next visit to my parents' house in hopes of finding some shots of the Charger.

I've been inspired by American Wind to dig up more old family pics. It's just good to know and remember where you're from.

Dad's Cars

I imagine that was a lot of fun in the snow.

My Dad had some cool cars. He had a few bikes too but I can't seem to find pictures of those. Enjoy some photos from a simpler time. A time before onboard diagnostics. A time when cars had muscle and sounded like thunder.

Rhinebeck Car Show 2010, Rhinebeck, NY

88 mph

Where are these car shots coming from? These are all teasers from the Rhinebeck Car Show that took place May 2010 in Rhinebeck, NY. Yeah, I know, I'm seven months late on this but, gimme a break, I had a great summer. The weather was perfect way too often to be staying inside posting on this thing. And now that it's 20 degrees out, I'm playing catch up. More pics to follow including the Krunk City Sleeper and the Wicked Hood Ornament Rod.
